Mercenaries, listen up! Have you ever wanted to steal the briefcase from the enemy team for hours and hours on end? Have you ever wanted to rush the Control Point as our ancestors did in the 5th century with swords, battle axes, and arrows? Well, all of your wildest dreams are coming true. Introducing Creators.TF Alternative Gamemode servers! One server in each region has been converted into these Alternative Gamemodes, with maps coming from game modes that aren’t played often like Player Destruction, Capture the Flag and Payload Race.

In other news today, The times of Smissmas are over. Yup. Completely done. Finished. No more. The snow is slowly melting away, and we’ll be sending all of your retrieved presents to Australian Santa Claus. As I was a statistics nerd in a previous life, I have some data about how well you performed this year:

7,253 players collected a total of 1,167,967 gifts for their Gifting Lantern, with the top players being:

Thank you all for your Smissmas spirit! The spirit of Saint Nick has left the top three a final present as a thank you for all of your hard efforts.

Next order of business! Our workshop! In case you weren't already aware, we have our own workshop where content creators can import their maps, cosmetics, warpaints, and other items, and they have the chance of being featured in one of our future content updates! If you're a content creator or know one, think about importing your content into our workshop. We love seeing your content and we want to try and feature as much as we can. Often times we see new maps from our workshop in our Rotation Shakeup updates. Speaking of Rotation Shakeups, we'd like to gather your feedback on vanilla maps here as we make adjustments to our map pool.

We’ve also made a lot of changes to our servers over the last week, including some new commands that might be handy to know.
Check out the rest of the patch notes here, and we hope you have a very good year in 2021! We can’t wait to show you what we have in store.

Snowed-In Smissmas

December 16, 2020 22:13 • Creators.TF Blog

Ho ho ho Mercs! It is me, the legit Australian Santa Claus (and not just the blog post writer in a thrift shop Santa suit)!
While I was overseeing the present manufacturing factory (or in this case, watching color television) the funny looking man on the weather forecast said "Due to a severe snowstorm, certain battlegrounds may be closed due to heavy snow cast over the Teufort area. Prepare a warm, but not explosive fire, and settle in for the long haul as this storm passes."

Now I don’t know about you funny-looking weatherman, but I’ve got presents to deliver, and having little Mercenaries trapped inside without any fun and violence on Christmas Day just doesn’t sound like a whole lot of fun to me. Coincidently, the Creators.TF Team in their headquarters were desperate to have a Smissmas update to finish off the year. So with my Christmas magic (not just the blog writer waving a pencil around like a wand), and the talent of the community, the Creators.TF team and I have gotten together to create the Snowed-In Smissmas update!

So, what are we putting into your stockings this year? Well, Dr. Watson, it’s quite simple really. The short, stubby, and leftover mercenaries that I call "elves" have managed to produce 14 new cosmetics, each created to the highest of our standards! Make sure you wrap yourself up tightly so you don’t freeze to death (it’s very expensive for Santa Claus to move dead bodies around the place), and stay close to your furry companions that sit on your belts because they're your only friends in this cold and harsh world.

Now, if we want to leave the boredom of our bases, and get that rush of violence we all love, we’re gonna need some maps for you to play on. So we’ve rented out six maps for you to play on (once we’re able to shovel away all of the snow that’s trapping us all inside). We even have returning maps from our original Smissmas update, oh how time flies!

*ahem* For those mercenaries who are especially gifted (get it?), we have a special item for those people who get all of the awards and trophies at their school prizegiving, and you can barely take them off stage yourself. Introducing the Gifting Lantern! The Smissmas Gargoyle! Now gather around kids, it’s lore time!

Long long ago… back in the time of 2010… Old Nick descended on the town of Teufort while some of the mercs were completing court-ordered community service. He was later killed by a small kid by the first known use of the Spy-cicle. Later that night when the janitor was having his 2.5-minute bathroom break, the spirit of Old Nick was sucked out of his frozen body, and it was infused into the janitor's lantern. Nobody knew about the true power of the lantern until the janitor was found dead in the mall the next morning, right next to the Christmas displays. It’s been hiding in storage since that day, and nobody knows if-

Sorry, sorry! I’m just rubbing out the last piece of that lore as we WILL be needing the lantern this time around.
Presents will drop out of the corpses of your enemies, and your job is to collect them all back for us! If we all manage to work together to reclaim our presents, we can save the spirit of this Snowed-in Smissmas.
Now, it’s time to find the elf who caused this to happen in the first place...

What’s a little violence without music as well? For decades, music has influenced the way that mercenaries fight in the gravel pits. If we need to get back all of these presents, then some sick and fresh beats are required to get you into the fighting spirit! Introducing: Music Kits! These are special items that when equipped, will play new and unique music depending on the action each round. Want some thrill by capturing the control point? Well, we have two new tracks for you to jam out to!

  • Into The Centre Of The Earth, our first Music Kit made by our partners over at TFConnect (be a jolly mercenary and donate to their campaign here! Donations are open till January 1st!). This kit will give you the feeling of beating in your enemies with a metal bat, just like any baseball league player would!
  • Gravel Slaughter is our second Music Kit made by our in-house musician MrModez Pineapple. Whenever you get bored of capturing the same point 15 times each game, turn on this kit and your gameplay will instantly improve (this product is not scientifically tested, results may vary. If you experience any symptoms of headache, earworm, or unconsciousness, please see your nearest Medic)!

So, how's that for Christmas this year? Cosmetics, maps, a lantern, and some music for your ears! After this Christmas, I might go travel to New Zealand for a good summer vacation. Hopefully, Mann Co doesn't explode or anything while I'm gone!

See you next year!
- Australian Santa Claus and the Creators.TF Team.

TFConnect 2020

December 11, 2020 19:32 • Creators.TF Blog

Hey everyone! We hope that the leadup to 2021 has been treating you well so far. Today, our partner TFConnect is starting their charity livestream, which is raising funds for the UK-based charity SpecialEffect. SpecialEffect is a charity which helps kids around the world with physical disabilities play video games alongside everyone else. TFConnect has been supporting many various charities in the past, and we need your help for this one!

So far as a community, we’ve managed to raise over £2500! This was the original goal for this event, and the stream hasn’t even started! The current goal is £5000, and we’re getting close to the £3000 mark. You can check out the charity page and donate here.

Now, what’s happening on the stream? Well, random person who managed to infiltrate this blog post, I’ll tell you what’s happening on the stream. We have competitive tournaments with representatives from North America and Europe, MVM with popular YouTubers, interviews with people in the community, and more! The stream is split over multiple days, between December 11th to the 13th.

It would be awesome if you could donate and join in the stream! We can’t wait to see you guys all there! If you have questions, or need more information, follow the official TFConnect twitter here.

Watch the Twitch stream on the KritzKast page TODAY @ 1pm EST/7pm CET.

Do you ever feel down in the dumps? Do you ever feel like fighting is too much for you sometimes? Do you ever get thoughts like: “Man! I really want to stop pushing this cart and do something actually entertaining and original for once!”? Well too bad you pitiful MERCENARIES! We’ve censored all of your cries for help, and we’ve taken away all of your vacation time! If you continue moping around like this, there’s gonna be a lot more extra gruel for you!

*psst psst* What's that?
*psst psst psst* We actually can’t do that?
*psst* We actually have to give these people time off?
*psst psst* How soon? *psst* Now?

Well then…
According to our state of the art™ (and totally legit) lawyers, we unfortunately have to give you some fighting leave, and we need to do it now. So today, we’re introducing the Creators.TF Events Servers! If you ever think fighting is too serious, you can always take a trip down, and play on some silly maps with some silly plugins enabled!

If I were Billy Mays, I would be saying “But wait! There’s more!” right now, but I’m just the blog post writer, and I’m bad at doing impressions over text. However, there is actually more to the servers than just silly stuff! The Events Team hosts small events from time to time, such as Fundays, Deathrun, Casual Competitive, and specific gamemode days like Freak Fortress 2 or Zombie Fortress!

If you join our Discord or the Steam Group, you can get notified of when these events take place! (For the Discord, you will need to subscribe to the “Events Notification” role on #roles)

Looking for your luggage? Get it by downloading our assets from the Creators.TF Community Launcher, and join our servers via the servers list.

What are you waiting for? The lawyers are holding me at gunpoint, so I need you all to go on that silly vacation! Go go go!

G’day Mercs! We hope that the spirit of Halloween has been treating you well over the last couple of weeks. As time moves on, you may start to get bored of the deathmatch arenas that we call “maps”. Think of it like pizza: you really like eating slices of pepperoni, cheese, vegetarian (…if you’re into that), but your doctor tells you that “it’s not healthy” and you should go on a “diet”. You ignore the doc’s advice, and you end up dying of a heart attack at age 53. Roll credits! I’m joking. This is a blog post, not a movie.

However, we are all responsible little mercenaries, and we follow our doctors advice (because mandatory fitness training and healthcare is written into our contracts, and death ensures if we breach them). So today, we have four new maps for you all to play on!

First up in the rotation is koth_ramjam by Jusa with additional support from Evil Knevil, NassimO, and MaccyF. Set in an outdoor factory complex between Berries Liquefying United and R.E.D (Rather Edible & Delicious) Jam Cooperative, players fight over the central courtyard that separates both plants. Don’t keep your hands in the jam barrel for too long, you’ve got a battle to fight!

Next up, double check your totally legitimate passports, book a flight to Asia, because we’re flying down to koth_daenam by hondjo and poy. This beautiful map will kill you. While you were admiring the beauty of those cherry blossom trees, a soldier shot a rocket at you. So uncivilized. Make your way around the tight middle corridors and climb up the ramps that lead to the point where fights are sure to become chaotic!

Reenact your James Bond impression, because next up we’re sneaking into cp_fulgur by AsG_Alligator. Pyro mains with a trigger happy airblast are sure to have a field day with the helipad on A, so Scouts beware! This spytech themed map takes you inside of RED’s evil lair one point at a time, with the final point being underneath a massive rocket silo! Make sure to not get caught in the launch sequence, because you’d be dead.

Last but not least, we have koth_ashville by Marilyn and Hinomaru. Competitive players, you might know this centre point all too well. Based on Mackey’s original design, it has been turned into a King of the Hill map, based around the Highlander gamemode. The main objective is simple: fight for control of the courtyard; how could you screw up that? That’s a question you will ask yourself a lot, as your team keeps losing to the other team. Shame on you.

These maps wouldn’t have been chosen without playtests from our awesome community. Thanks to all the players who came out to both of our playtest sessions! If you ever want to be a part of these map tests, feel free to join our Discord (creators.tf/discord) and subscribe to our Events Notification role, or join our official Steam Group and keep an eye out for the events that we announce.

The event is now live on all Creators.TF servers, so go ahead and get your fitness quota going! (The Creators.TF Halloween Special campaign has now been disabled, and the Halloween maps have now been removed from rotation.)

See you out there!
- The Creators.TF Team.

Housekeeping...

November 04, 2020 07:20 • Creators.TF Blog

Hey everyone! Welcome back to Creators.TF! Over the last few days, a few issues have been brought to our attention, and we've taken action. In this blog post, we're going to recap everything that's happened over the last few days, what’s happening with the Scream Fortress event, and where Creators.TF is going in the future.

On October 24th, we released our Scream Fortress update. Admittedly, it wasn't as ready and stable as we wished it was. Shortly after release, we discovered problems with handling the load on the website, which caused it, and our backend, to slow down to a crawl. We want to apologize for the inconvenience that this caused for players on launch day.

Since the servers and website were taken offline due to the economy bug and instability of the servers, a lot of improvements and optimizations have been made to the website and backend, which should mean faster load times and requests should now fully go through. If you experience any problems, have any questions or feedback, please get in touch with us by sending an email to support@creators.tf, or you can alternatively join our Discord here and post a message in the #help-desk or #feedback channel.

So what's next for Creators.TF? Well Halloween has almost come and gone, but the spirit of MEARSMUS is still with us! The Scream Fortress event will be extended to November 21st to make up for all of the time lost over the last few days. As for the future, we'll be continuing to push out content for the entire TF2 community as we always have! This might be a tiny dent in the road, but we can pick up our tools, rebuild our sentry guns, and keep moving forward! Now, enough chatting.

Check out the update if you haven't seen it already, and go out and collect all of those souls!

Greetings mortals, it is I, Merasmus! Today, I come to you to announce that Creators.TF released their Halloween event, in collaboration with me! I am glad they trusted Merasmus enough to let him prepare Scream Fortress for them. However, Merasmus has to curse Soldier once again, as he sneakily replaced my spoons with his weird ones, because “this is America”.

Merasmus hopes you will like this event, that took some time to produce. Better to release later than to release a forever bad event, you know? By the way, if you meet one of the team members, tell them to give Merasmissions back to Merasmus, or they will face a certain doom!

Go check it out, fool!

Happy Scream Fortress, everyone! We're still working with Merasmus to make our own Scream Fortress and to make sure it'll be a great event. Expect it to come later this month. Meanwhile, to celebrate this early release of Scream Fortress (so early we were all surprised), we're adding every official Halloween map in our rotation for you to enjoy!

See you soon!

A Goosebumping Voice

August 30, 2020 19:20 • Creators.TF Blog

Last night, son, I had a weird dream. It’s a long story, so I’ll pass you the details. I was defending one of the many facilities while a man with a chilling voice replaced the usual lady shouting in the speaker. I was fixing my sentry while this man appeared behind me. My first reaction was to equip the Wrangler and shoot at him, but it didn’t do anything! “Mister Conagher…”, he said, “your… toy won’t save you this time”. As he was about to put his hands on my shoulders, I woke up.

“Rise and shine, Mr. Conagher.” The man was in my room! Smirking, he reached at his pockets and handed me a tiny thing that looked like speakers and a TV. “Give it to your… employers”, he said. ”This is the product they were… waiting for.” Then, he walked out of my room, without a word. I looked at the product more closely, but it didn’t make any sense.

When I got to my employers’ office, the CEO laughed at his colleagues. “Hah, I told y’all we were going to get it some day!” When I asked him what this thing was, his writer handed me this notice:

The G-Man Announcer Pack, initially planned to release alongside Hazardous Environments is now available. To use it, download the Creators.TF Community Launcher and activate the Announcer Pack.
Or you can download the .vpk and put inside your "tf/custom" folder.

Son, if you want to use this thing, go ahead, it sure sounds amazing. Me, I’ll pass on that. That night was so terrifying I don’t see myself using it.

Back to Fight!

August 29, 2020 22:57 • Creators.TF Blog

It’s almost September now, and if you were a normal human being, you would listen to those boring official letters saying “blah blah, back to school!” and boring people trying to sell you products you don’t need, like sham-poo. But you’re not a normal human being. You’re a mercenary.

Mercenaries do not care about school, they care about how they’re gonna make that crybaby leave the battlefield and say to themselves: “that’s it, I quit my job and start a new career in jazz”, right before I storm into their house and tell them that creating art is not for cowards.

Lucky for you, gravel fighter, that crybaby jazz hippie left behind a large house with eleven cosmetics and five maps! (It was a big house). He was actually hiding them from me. How did I know? Feelings. Why did this mega bastard hide those items from the public eye? I don’t know, maybe I scared him away when I was about to go in that supermarket and he said “Sir, I can’t let you in if you don’t put on a shirt right now”, told him who I was and threw a shopping cart at him.

Anyway, do you want to see the stuff I got for ya? Of course you do! Those are some nice new facilities to defend, with style!

The event is live now. Summer is over, get back to fight already!
